The department's Ancillary Services Division includes in-service training of all department personnel, as well as advanced training of personnel at schools and training seminars held outside of the department. This division includes the property and evidence section where all property found or seized by the department is kept until it is either returned to its owner or disposed of pursuant to court order, department procedure and state law.
Captain Ronald Heffern has been with the Parma Police Department since 1982 and is currently assigned as the Commander of the Ancillary Services Division. He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology. Captain Heffern is a 2007 graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety- School of Police Staff and Command. Captain Heffern has spent the majority of his career in the Uniform Patrol Division. While assigned to the UP division, he served as a shift commander for several years. After leaving the Uniform Patrol division, Captain Heffern was assigned as the Administrative Lieutenant to the Chief of Police.
