The Professional Standards Unit's mission is to ensure the integrity of the Parma Police Department through inspections and audits of department personnel, programs and processes, thorough the investigation of allegations of police misconduct and coordinating the review of officer involved traffic accidents. The Professional Standards Unit coordinates the hiring process with the City of Parma Civil Service Commission, which includes conducting background investigations of candidates for police and civilian positions within the police department. The Professional Standards Unit also conducts two Citizen Police Academy Classes each year.
Captain Blair began his career with the Parma Police Department in 1992. He previously served as a supervisor in the Detective Bureau, a shift commander in the Patrol Division and the Traffic Unit Sergeant. Captain Blair is a 2007 graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College and a 2008 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.
