The Parma Police Department announces its “SAFE RIDE HOME” campaign for the upcoming holiday season.
The Police Department, in an effort to continue to educate the public in regards to drinking and driving has partnered with ABC Taxi LLC and will be providing rides home for patrons who feel they have consumed more alcohol then they should have. This campaign will begin on November 15, 2010 and last until January 1, 2011 at 11:59 PM.
In 2009 there were 320 people that were killed on Ohio roadways, in accidents involving impaired drivers. During this campaign, the Parma Police Department will pay for 320 rides home. There is no cost involved for anyone who utilizes this service. More information about this campaign is posted at participating establishments in the City of Parma or at the Parma Police Department web site at www.cityofparmapolice.com.
During this campaign, we have rented 4 billboards in and around the City of Parma and will also have a public service announcement on PAC TV. There is no cost to tax payers for the cost of this campaign. The money for this campaign comes from the OVI education and awareness fund, which is funded by previous OVI offenders. The Parma Police Department is committed to keeping our residents and the motoring public safe.
